SMARTS Conversation: The MetaCOG Surveys and Toolkit
October 11 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Want to learn more about what motivates your students, identify where they could use EF support, and help them build their self-understanding? Look no further than the MetaCOG Surveys & Toolkit. This dynamic, interactive executive function survey tool features two surveys:
- STRATUS (Strategy Use Survey): highlights students’ perceptions of their use of planning, organizing, memorizing, shifting, and self-checking strategies
- ME (Motivation and Effort Survey): helps teachers understand what motivates their students and helps them persevere, and it also allows students to share how much effort they put into various subjects and academic tasks.
The start of the school year is a great time to administer these surveys. In addition to using the surveys to prompt discussion, understand students’ self-perception, and build positive relationships, you can administer the surveys at the start of the year to establish a baseline of students’ strategy use and motivation and select SMARTS lessons.
Whether you’ve used the MetaCOG Surveys & Toolkit before, have access to it and haven’t started, or are just interested in learning more, we invite you to attend this SMARTS conversation. Join Michael Greschler, M.Ed., Caitlin Vanderberg, M.Ed., and other SMARTS educators to dive into the MetaCOG Surveys & Toolkit and explore new navigation/accessibility features for both surveys.
Please note: this session is only available to current SMARTS Secondary teachers. The MetaCOG Surveys & Toolkit feature requires an add-on to the secondary license; however, all current secondary users are welcome to join.
