SMARTS After the Bell- Using Executive Function in Elementary School

Executive function strategies can empower students at any age. Don’t believe me? Take a look at how the students in the  James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club After the Bell program are using executive function strategies. Supported by a 100 for 100 grant from the Cummings Foundation, these 5th graders from Woburn, MA, have spent the past year learning about executive function, metacognition, and more with Shelly Levy, M.Ed., one of our amazing SMARTS team members. They used that knowledge to identify and tackle important community issues, including animal welfare and homelessness. Check out the video to learn more.
