Announcing the 37th Annual Executive Function Conference

Thirty-seven years ago, while at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Lynn Meltzer founded the “Learning Disabilities Conference.” The first of its kind, this conference brought together theorists, researchers, and teachers to improve the lives of students with learning and attention difficulties.

Over the last three decades, Dr. Meltzer and her team at the Institutes for Learning and Development (ResearchILD and ILD) have shifted the paradigm in special education from an emphasis on deficits to an emphasis on strengths and resilience. ResearchILD’s annual conference is now titled the Executive Function Conference, a natural transition for the mission and goals of our program.

Spotlight on Dr. Lynn Meltzer, Conference Founder and Chair

Lynn Meltzer, Ph.D., conference founder and chair and president of Institutes for Learning and Development, will offer the keynote presentation at the 37th Annual Executive Function Conference. Her talk, “Igniting Success and Reducing Stress for All Students: Metacognition, Executive Function, and Emotional Regulation,” will focus on ways to support all students and prepare them for academic and lifelong success.

2022 Theme: Executive Function and Social-Emotional Learning

This year’s conference theme is “Executive Function and Social-Emotional Learning: Promoting Resilience, Stress Management, and Academic Success.” How do executive function and social-emotional processes interact to affect classroom learning? How can we create schools and classrooms that promote executive function and social-emotional learning in all students? We will explore these questions and more at this year’s conference.

We look forward to welcoming you on November 3rd, 2022 and November 4th, 2022 for in-depth conversations and learning. Learn more about this year’s conference and register to save your seat.
